Light and medium hydrocarbon and/or metal contaminated soil is mixed with other earthen material, topsoil, or foundry sand. The material is then passed through a scalping screen to remove oversized material. Finally, screened material is matched with certain chemical additives to render the mechanical properties of the desired fill material. Materials treated through chemical fixation are either beneficially re-used as fill material or disposed at a landfill.
