The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule provides a needed update to the hazardous waste generator regulations with the goal of simplifying hazardous waste management by allowing greater flexibility for how entities dispose of hazardous waste.
By closing a number of longstanding gaps in EPA regulations and making hazardous waste disposal regulations more easily understood, the EPA is enabling better compliance across businesses and industries when it comes to hazardous waste management.
The Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule is now in effect in 32 states and the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. As more states continue working toward adopting the Final Rule in order to reach compliance, Clean Earth is tracking state-by-state implementation and timelines for public comment.
Arkansas and Ohio are the latest states to adopt the rule, while California’s adoption timeline has not yet been determined. Additional updates include:
