E-Manifest Correction Letter Clarification

SHARE

DECEMBER 12, 2018

In the past, correction letters have been an acceptable method for issuing corrections to the manifest after the treatment, storage and disposal facility (TSDF) received the shipment. While a correction letter can still be used for manifests generated prior to June 30, 2018, they are no longer required or necessary for any manifest generated (paper or electronic) after that date.

All corrections must now be done by the TSDF in the e-Manifest system. Anyone with access to the system can make necessary corrections. Once a correction is made in the system and saved, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) system automatically tracks the change through the electronic “fingerprint” of the individual who made the correction.

The standard operating procedure is currently under development and will be distributed.
