e-Manifest Data Submittal Breakdown

SHARE

JANUARY 4, 2019

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced that through the end of November 2018, it processed 655,000 manifests into the Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest (e-Manifest) system. A breakdown of the data submittal format (as of November 2018) is as follows:

  • 21 percent via PDF image only
  • 20 percent via PDF + API data file
  • 8 percent via mailed paper copy
  • .25 percent via electronic submission

Through the end of December 2018, Stericycle Environmental Solutions successfully submitted more than 166,000 manifests to the e-Manifest system.

The community of hazardous waste generators continues to struggle with understanding the e-Manifest system. Stericycle’s transporters and treatment, storage and disposal facilities (TSDFs), as well as our e-Manifest project team, are continuing to answer many questions from our customers.

While the e-Manifest system is continuing to function throughout the federal government shutdown that began Dec. 22, 2018, EPA support staff are not available during the shutdown and all manual entry is suspended for manifests submitted by the electronic image and mailed copies.

Clean Earth continues to monitor the progress of e-Manifest data submittals, identifying and addressing issues related to invoicing, contract amendments, manifest image scans and order data entry.
